From Inspector to Quilter: My Life’s Journey to Solace Through Quilting
BIO: Michael Nardi learned to sew at the age of seven, sitting beside his grandmother as she taught him hand stitching using pages torn from coloring books. Carefully sewing along the printed lines, he learned patience, precision, and a deep love for working with his hands—lessons that would stay with him for life.
Like many creatives, Michael’s path wasn’t a straight one. Years later, during a time of rebuilding and self-discovery, he found his way back to sewing and quilting. What began as curiosity quickly became a calling. Through dedicated study, strong mentorship, and an ever-growing passion for the craft, quilting became both a creative outlet and a source of purpose.
Today, Michael is an accomplished quilt educator, published quilter, and the designer/owner behind Bryn Mawr Quilts. He is also proud to be a fabric designer with Andover Fabrics, where his love ofvintage inspiration and modern construction comes together in thoughtful, story-driven designs. His teaching style is encouraging, approachable, and detail-focused, with an emphasis on helping students feel confident and capable at the sewing machine.
Michael believes quilting is more than fabric and thread—it is storytelling, problem-solving, and personal expression. Through quilting, he not only found his voice as an artist, but also rediscovered himself.
